You are at this level if…

  • You have never skied, or tried once a long time ago.
  • You are not yet sure how to stand, slide or stop on skis.
  • You would rather learn it properly from the first morning than work it out alone.

What you work on

  1. Putting on boots and skis, and getting up again after a fall.
  2. Sliding, balancing and stopping with a snowplough.
  3. Your first turns on gentle, groomed snow.
  4. Riding a beginner lift safely.

Where you ski

The gentle beginner slopes in Gulmarg, where the snow is groomed and the gradient is easy, with an instructor keeping you on ground that suits the day. The higher slopes can wait until you can turn and stop with confidence.
