How Kohwan came to be
- 1998
Growing up with the gondola
Our founder, Abdul Hamid Bhat, was born in a small village near Gulmarg. He watched the first phase of the Gulmarg gondola begin, as a quiet meadow started to become a ski resort.
- 2004
Bhat Ski Shop opens
Self-taught on the slopes and later trained by Swiss pioneer Sylvain Saudan, he opened Bhat Ski Shop in Gulmarg. It grew into Bhat Adventure Sports Gulmarg.
- Today
Kohwan is born
Guests kept asking for more than skiing, so Kohwan was made for the complete trip: Gulmarg, Srinagar, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and all the way to Leh Ladakh. Koh means mountain and wan means forest.
